On November 12, 2022, Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis successfully tested and received the rank of 8th Degree Black Belt becoming Grand Master Dennis Lewis in Grand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A. He is one of a very select few in the world who hold this rank.

     Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently hosted the annual Tae Kwon Do seminar, color-belt and black-belt testing. The event took place April 11th & 12th 2025 at McCracken County High School in Paducah, Kentucky.
About 135 students and around 40 Masters, Senior Masters, Junior Grand Masters and Grand Master Instructors were present at this great event. Students, families and friends traveled from Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas and Missouri to attend the event. 
     This year's focus was CONTINUED SUCCESS, GROWTH AND LEADERSHIP OF TAE PARK TAE KWON DO AND WORLD CLASS TAE KWON DO.
     Special guest was Grand Master Tae Zee Park,9th Degree Black-Belt, President & Founder of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Of The United States Of America. Grand Master Park was National & World Tae Kwon Do Champion from 1963 to 1968 with 12 Gold Medals.
Also present was Grand Master Richard Warren 9th Dan Black-Belt, President Of World Class Tae Kwon Do which is a 501c3 non-profit organization and Vice-President Of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do. 
     The seminar and testing were directed and hosted by 8th Dan Grand Master Dennis Lewis President & Founder Of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association. Grand Master Lewis is Vice-President Of World Class Tae Kwon Do. Grand Master Lewis is considered a pioneer of Traditional Tae Kwon Do in The Heartland and The Mid-South of The United States.

Grand Master Dennis Lewis recently traveled to Anniston, Alabama for a color belt testing and proof of skills testing. The testing was organized by Alabama Head Instructor Master Marcus King and his wife Mrs. Monquita King. Everyone was very happy and proud to get a chance to visit with Grand Master Lewis. The event was a huge success.


Youth deliver on Valentine's Day

The Lewis Institute of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Mid-South Youth Group recently delivered Valentines to local nursing homes.
President Anna McGowen, delivered to The Obion County Nursing and Rehabilitation in Union City, TN. Vice President Zavery Gore visited Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mayfield, KY where he delivered Valentines to each resident. This brought many smiles to residents’ faces.

Grand Master Tae Zee Park Celebrated 50 years of teaching traditional tae kwon do at the United States of America Tae Park Tae Kwon Do World Class Championship Tournament in Grand Rapids, MI on November 8-9, 2024. Grand Master Park had special guests visiting to help celebrate. Two of his original students that were in attendance were Senior Master Thomas Hallin and Master Gary Jones.

Lewis Institute Participates in Tournament

The Lewis Institute Mid-South Organization of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do participated in the United States of America Tae Park Tae Kwon Do World Class Championship Tournament in Grand Rapids, MI on November 9, 2024. With over 200 participants, Masters, Senior Masters, Junior Grandmasters, and Grandmasters from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Wyoming, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Florida, the tournament was a huge success. Lewis Institute students who participated brought home 36 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. ​

On September 21, 2024, a color belt testing was held for students of the Lewis Institute Mid-south Tae Park Tae Kwon Do organization. The students have been working hard, and the testing was a success. The organization now begins preparation for the Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Test and National tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This will be held on November 8-9, 2024. ​

​On August 10, 2024, a Forms Seminar was hosted by Grand Master Dennis Lewis in Tiptonville, TN. Participants in this seminar were students at the rank of blue belt and above. Executing forms with precise technique and power was the focus of the seminar. Basic and high rank techniques were also worked on. Students were taught by 8th Dan Grand Master Dennis Lewis along with two of his 5th Dan and four of his 4th Dan Master Instructors.

On August 3, 2024, Grand Master Lewis visited Anniston, AL to host a Seminar and Testing. Master Marcus King and his Assistant Instructor, Mrs. Monquita King, arranged for this successful event. Grand Master Lewis taught the Alabama King Institute during the seminar. Master Terry Warmath, Master Robert Jones, and Master Cornelia Montgomery were also in attendance to teach during the seminar along with 3rd Dan Black belts Mr. Christopher Bell and Mr. Payton Williams, and 2nd Dan Black Belt Mr. Bradyn Kerr. After the seminar, a color belt testing was held.

On July 20, 2024, a Lewis Institute Organizational Color Belt Test was held. The testing was hosted by 8th Dan Grand Master Dennis Lewis, and it was held at Elam Institute in Tiptonville, TN. About 45 students tested for various color belt ranks. After the testing, Grand Master Lewis's birthday was celebrated with a meal for all to enjoy.

Grand Master Park has practiced Tae Kwon Do for about 70 years. He was National And World Champion from 1963-1968 with (12) gold medals.

Master Marcus King Makes History

On June 26, 2024, Alabama Head Instructor Master Marcus King made history at his place of employment. Master Marcus King was elected as he 1st Union President of Local 83700 at The Company of Newflyer of America in Anniston, Alabama. Newflyer employs over 620 employees. The company builds transit busses that are shipped all around the world.
 
Master Marcus King recently met with U.S.A. Secretary Of Labor Julie Su. Congratulations Marcus Grand Master Lewis is sure that you will do a good job to ensure that the Union and Company works together for the betterment of the people, the country and the equipment that is shipped around the world from the company.
 
 




2024 Annual National, International Seminar, Color-Belt & Black-Belt Testing

Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis President & Founder Of Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently directed, hosted and held its annual National, International Seminar, Color-Belt & Black-Belt Testing. The event was held May 16th & 17th, 2024 at McCracken County High School in Paducah, Kentucky. 
 
There were 171 students and 41 Master, Senior Master, Junior Grand Master and Grand Master Instructors from around the country that were present at this great event. Special Guest was Grand Master Tae Zee Park, President & Founder Of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Of The United States Of America.
  
There were many different varieties of things that were taught. Grand Master Park at 80 Years Old taught several special techniques. Grand Master Park had a lot of energy, and he was as always in Excellent Form. 
 
Also, on Friday, May 16th, there were a Special Master Instructors Testing. Seven candidates tested for the rank of 4th Dan Master Instructor and 3 candidates tested for the rank of 6th Dan Senior Master Instructor. Two of Lewis Institute Institute/Mid-South Head Instructors successfully tested for the rank of 4th Dan within the group. Brownsville, Tennessee Head Instructor Mrs. Cornelia Montgomery and Martin, Tennessee Head Instructor Ms. Amanda Spicer had an outstanding test. They became New Master Instructors within Lewis Institute. Special Congratulations to the both of them. Excellent Testing.
  
Overall the testing was a huge success and the judges were very impressed with everyone. Grand Master Park was the Head Judge, and he was very proud.

On April 20, 2024, a Lewis Institute Mid-South TKD Organization Seminar was held in Tiptonville, TN at Master Connie Elam's dojang. Students had the opportunity to learn from 8th Dan Grand Master Dennis Lewis and other 4th and 5th Dan Master Instructors. Sessions taught covered basic techniques, basic kicking, target work, one-step sparring, sparring, and forms. This was a fundraiser event, and all students benefited from the Grand Master and Masters teachings.

​Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently hosted a major Tae Kwon Do event. The event took place in Tiptonville, Tennessee on July 22, 2023. There were about ten 4th & 5th Dan Master Instructors and over 150 Master Instructors, Head Instructors, Assistant Instructors, students, families & friends from the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida and Michigan present at this event.

The event consisted of a Tae Kwon Do Rules and Referee Class Course. This course was conducted by National and International World Tae Kwon Do Champion 5th Dan Master Lemon Williams and 5th Dan Master Instructor Dr. Rachel Harshbarger. They both traveled from Michigan to conduct this great event.


The event was organized, directed and hosted by Grand Master Instructor 8th Degree Black-Belt Dennis Lewis. Grand Master Lewis is President & Founder of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association. After the seminar there was Color-Belt testing. There were also about 10 students that had a Black-Belt Proof Of Skills Testing to determine if they are worthy for Black-Belt Testing at a later date. After the event the students had a dinner and party to celebrate Grand Master Lewis's Birthday. The event was a huge success.

On the weekend of July 15th & July 16th, 2022, 7th Dan Black-Belt Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis hosted a Traditional Tae Kwon Do Seminar, Color-Belt & Black-Belt Testing. Junior Grand Master Lewis is the President & Founder of Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association. 

The seminar and testing took place in Tiptonville, Tennessee. About 60 students tested for various ranks of belts and there were 6 students that successfully tested for 1st Dan Black-Belt. Also, a very special testing was held on Friday July 15th, 2022. Head Instructor Mr. Marcus King from Jacksonville, Alabama and Mr. Daniel Arguera from Mayfield, Kentucky successfully tested for the rank of 4th Dan Master Instructor. Congratulations to both of these students for their outstanding accomplishment.

There were several judges present for this great event. Special guest judges were 7th Dan Junior Grand Master Instructor James Rodgers from Mason, Michigan and very special guest and Head Judge from Chicago, Illinois 8th Dan Grand Master Instructor Richard Warren. The event was a huge success.

Head Instructor Receives Academic Awards
Marcus King, Third Dan Head Instructor of Lewis Institute in Anniston, AL, has recently been honored by Gadsden State Community College. Mr. King will graduate from GSCC on May 5, 2022, with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. He received three awards at Gadsden's awards ceremony. Mr. King was awarded the Outstanding Achievement and Student Success Award, the Outstanding Student in Electronic Engineering Award, and the President's Cup Technology Division Award. This award is the highest award presented at GSCC. One criterion to qualify for this award is community service. Teaching taekwondo to the community helped qualify him for this award. Mr. King is thankful to Junior Grandmaster Dennis Lewis, Grandmaster Park, Lewis Institute of Mid-South Taekwondo, and Tae Park Taekwondo for helping him achieve this award and for the difference they have made in his life. Mr. King has also been chosen to be one of the speakers at his upcoming graduation on May 5, 2022. Mr. King contributes his perfect attendance and having maintained a 4.0 GPA to the discipline he acquired through taekwondo. Congratulations, Mr. Marcus King!

TAE KWON DO GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN A BIG WAY

Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis 7th Degree Black-Belt President & Founder of Lewis Institute/Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently gave a great donation to The Mayfield Community Relief Fund.

Several Masters, Senior Masters, Junior Grand Masters and Grand Masters from around the country donated a total of $5,890.00. Junior Grand Master Lewis made the donation on behalf of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association, Tae Park Tae Kwon Do and World Class Tae Kwon Do. Junior Grand Master Lewis presented the donation to Mr. Steven Elder Executive Director of the Mayfield Community Relief Fund.

Junior Grand Master Lewis says that Traditional Tae Kwon Do is more than just kicking, punching and self-defense. It is also about helping those who are in need and being a positive force in the community. Junior Grand Master Lewis has practiced Traditional Tae Kwon Do under his Instructor Grand Master Tae Zee Park for almost 45 years. Junior Grand Master Lewis has several schools and locations in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama.

Accompanying Junior Grand Master Lewis is 5th Dan Black-Belt Master Instructor Betty Henderson and local Mayfield, Kentucky native 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mr. Matthew Ballew. Mr. Ballew has worked on several projects helping the tornado victims in Mayfield and the surrounding areas. Mr. Ballew practices Tae Kwon Do at the local Mayfield Y.M.C.A. under 5th Dan Black-Belt Master Instructor Terry Warmath.

The judges were Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis, Master Terry Warmath, Master Betty Henderson, Master Robert Jones, and Master Terry King. The testing was hosted by Head Instructor 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mrs. Tammy Singleton.

On October 2nd, 2021, Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association had color-belt testing at The Houston Levee Community Center in Memphis, Tennessee. The judges were Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis and Master Robert Jones. Accompanying Junior Grand Master Lewis and Master Jones were 3rd Dan Black-Belts Mr. Daniel Arguera and Mr. Christopher Bell. The Head Instructor for the Memphis, Tennessee Location is 3rd Dan Black-Belt Mr. Mark Land.

On Saturday May 15th, 2021, Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association hosted 1 of 2 testing that were scheduled for the day. The 1st testing took place in Memphis, Tennessee, U.S.A. The Special Guests Judges were Grand Master Lynn Bernard from Pinedale, Wyoming and Head Judge Grand Master Richard Warren from Chicago, Illinois. The host for the testing was Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis President & Founder Of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association.

There were several questions asked from the parents and Grand Master Warren and Grand Master Bernard gave precise and clear answers. Everyone was very impressed. The testing was a huge success. I would like to thank these gentlemen for attending, and I would especially like to thank Grand Master Tae Zee Park for allowing myself and Mid-South TKD Association for having such a great event.

On Saturday May 15th, 2021 the 2nd testing of the day took place in Tiptonville, Tennessee, U.S.A. There were several students from all ranks and belts that tested, and there were 10 students that tested for the ranks of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Dan Black-Belt. The Special Guests at this great event were Grand Master Lynn Bernard President Of Bernard Institute and Treasurer Of World Class Tae Kwon Do International and Head Judge Grand Master Richard Warren Vice-President Of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do and President Of World Class Tae Kwon Do International.

The event and testing host was Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis President Of Lewis Institute Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association and Vice-President Of World Class Tae Kwon Do. After the testing, Grand Master Warren and Grand Master Bernard answered questions, took pictures and mingled with the students, parents, families, friends and the entire audience. Everyone was very happy and proud. I would like to personally thank Grand Master Warren and Grand Master Bernard for attending these events and for traveling all over the Mid-South. I humbly and truly appreciate it. Also, I would like to especially thank Grand Master Tae Zee Park for allowing me to have this great event. Thank you, sir.

Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Student Receives Sr. Mary Eleanor Award

Each year, during the Lourdes Hospital Service Awards Banquet, a leader is recognized who exemplifies the values of servant leadership.  Nominated by peers, this award is the highest recognition for a member of the Lourdes leadership team.  Congratulations to Darrell New, the recipient of the 2014 Sr. Mary Eleanor Award.  Darrell New is a High Red Belt, and he is a student of 5th Dan Master Instructor Terry Warmath.

Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis Gives Basic Self-Defense Class

Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis and Master Instructor Terry Warmath recently gave a basic self-defense class for some members of Mr. Marcus King's Church in Alabama.  The class was focused on knowing your surroundings, using common sense, and understanding basic vital points used in self-defense.  Mr. King's church has been very supportive of Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do since Mr. King's classes started in August of 2013.  Everyone was very interested, and they were shown basic life saving techniques that anyone of any age can do. 

Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis Visits Alabama


Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis recently traveled to the state of Alabama at the request of Mr. Marcus King, Jr.

King is one of Junior Grand Master Lewis's students, and he recently opened a branch of Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do in Anniston, Alabama.  The classes are being taught at The Anniston Aquatic & Fitness Center.  The facility is part of the Fort McClellan Army Base, and it is affiliated with The Homeland Security of the United States of America. 

Junior Grand Master Lewis was very impressed with all the students' dedication, technique, and attitude.

Award Presented to Dr. Brad Mutchler

Dr. Brad Mutchler was recently honored with the Distinguished Veteran of 2013 Award.  Dr. Mutchler served overseas from 1966-1967, and he also served in Desert Storm in 1991.  The dinner and ceremony were held in Paducah, Kentucky.  There were several officials present along with the media.  The event was attended by Dr. Mutchler's Instructor Charles Caldwell and Kwan Jung Nim Junior Grand Master Dennis Lewis.

2013 State Games of America

Students from Lewis Institute Tae Park Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently traveled to Hershey/Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to compete in The National Congress Of State Games Of America 2013. There were 16 students who won roughly 30 medals in Forms, Sparring, Power Breaking, and Creative Breaking.  Also, Master Terry Warmath, Master Terry King, Master Betty Henderson, and Master Dr. Said Nabhan served as coaches at the tournament.  The group was led by Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis.

​Thank You Gift Presented to Junior Grand Master Lewis

On September 28, 2013, Junior Grand Master Lewis's students surprised him with a Thank You Poster for his hard work and dedication in preparing everyone for the State Games Of America that was recently held in Harrisburg/Hershey, Pennsylvania.
When asked how this made him fee, Junior Grand Master Lewis said, "I was really surprised and honored that they really did appreciate all of their accomplishments."

​Lewis Institute Visit to Knoxville

Junior Grand Master Instructor Dennis Lewis, Master Terry Warmath, Master Terry King, and Master Betty Henderson along with students from Lewis Institute Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Mid-South Tae Kwon Do Association recently traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee to judge testing for East Tennessee Master Instructor Bruce Park Jr. Junior Grand Master Lewis also taught a seminar for Master Bruce Park Jr.'s students.
